After 35 years with the same Senior Minister, 2009 has been a year of change for Cypress Creek Christian Church. Once Dr. B. Glenn Wilkerson’s retirement became official on December 31, 2008, the congregation enjoyed a tag-team approach to Sunday morning preaching while the search for a new Senior Minister continued.

On Sunday, September 13, 2009, Rev. William Vanderbloemen was installed as the new Senior Minister, at all three worship services (8:30 am, 9:31 am and 11:00 am). Rev. Herb Lynskey, Disciples Coastal Plains Area Minister, led the congregation in our pledge of support, love and prayers for William and his family, as he begins his service as God’s ambassador to Cypress Creek.

 

At the close of the congregation’s pledge, all the Ministers and Elders came forward to lay hands on William as the congregation joined in prayer.

 

 

Following his installation, Rev. Vanderbloemen delivered an inspiring sermon about being a life-giver.

 

 

At noon, a  reception was held for William and his family, in the Centrum Narthex.

 

 

Rev. Vanderbloemen brings to Cypress Creek fifteen years of pastoral experience and a passion for connecting people to Christ.  When asked about his personal approach to sharing the Gospel, he said, “There are people living every day who don’t know the abundant life God can bring, people who feel excluded from God’s love and grace, and people who worry that God is mad at them rather than madly in love with them. Those people need to hear the message we have been given. I believe we are called to bring hope into a world that is literally dying to hear about it. And I will spend whatever time and talent I have trying to bring that hope of Christ and His unconditional love to as many people as possible.”
