Thinking of Visiting?
Thinking of attending a worship service at Cypress Creek Christian Church, but not sure what to expect? We realize that visiting a new church can be a little intimidating, so we'd like to answer some common questions.

How do I get to Cypress Creek Christian Church?

Cypress Creek Christian Church is located just 1.5 miles north of Cypress Creek Parkway (formerly FM 1960) and 2 blocks east of Stuebner Airline, nestled between the Harris County Courthouse Annex and the new Barbara Bush Library. Will I have to stand up in front of people?

While the people at Cypress Creek are genuinely interested in getting to know you and make you feel welcome, we will never call on you or embarrass you in any way. You can relax and enjoy meeting people at your own pace.

Do I have to dress up?

No, you don't. We encourage people to dress comfortably. For some, that may mean dressing up, but for most it simply means wearing casual clothes. We want everyone to come, be comfortable, and enjoy learning about God together.

What time do your services start?

We have three worship services each Sunday - 8:30, 9:31 and 11:00. Sunday School for grades 1-5 begins at 9:40, and youth in grades 6-12 meet at 10:30. We also meet at various times throughout the week for Bible studies, prayer and other fellowship opportunities. To see a list of our gathering times, click here.

Your children will love Cypress Creek Christian Church! We provide fun, hands-on Bible lessons and activities every Sunday morning designed especially to help them learn the truths of the Bible. We also provide a safe, cozy nursery for infants through pre-school.

What are the sermons like?

At Cypress Creek Christian Church, it is our sincere desire to share God's Word in all its truth without watering anything down, but to do it in love, and in ways that are interesting, engaging and relevant to your daily life. While the Bible certainly does convict us of our sin in order to point out our lost condition, the overarching theme of the entire Bible is God's unconditional love for all humankind, as is shown by God sending His precious Son, Jesus, to pay the price for our sin. If you attend one of our services, you will hear the truths of God's Word presented passionately, clearly, and lovingly in ways that will make sense to you. But why not find out for yourself?

What kind of music do you have?

We believe that debates regarding styles of music are more a matter of personal preference than anything else.  In appreciation of that, we want to give worshippers an option to choose the style of worship they prefer.

Our traditional worship service praises God with great church hymns of both past and present, in a formal setting.  Offerings of praise and thanksgiving are expressed through timeless music led by our choir and organist.  Worship services are enhanced with very talented soloists, hand bell performances, and occasional brass instruments.  For more about our traditional worship services, click here.

Our more contemporary worship service uses a blend of music styles to glorify God.  We have not abandoned the familiar hymns for newer music.  Instead, you will hear a great mix of new and old music - plenty of songs you know and love; contemporary Christian music, scripture-based original compositions, old gospel favorites, and some traditional music.  The setting is more casual and led by our worship band, who encourages everyone present to  "make a joyful noise" unto the Lord. For more about our contemporary worship service, click here.

The focus of all of our worship services is to bring glory to God and to support and encourage every worshipper in their journey of faith.

What denomination is Cypress Creek Christian Church?

Cypress Creek Christian Church is a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination.  The Bible is the primary sourcebook of our faith. We seek to make the Bible relevant to the issues of today. With the support and guidance of the church, our members enjoy both the freedom and responsibility of making their own decisions in regard to interpreting the Bible and practicing their faith. As a body of believers, we seek to be the "hands and feet of the Christ" ministering to a broken world.

We are committed to sharing God's Good News through our ministry and facilities. Our buildings serve not only as worship and learning venues for the church, but also as a meeting place for over one hundred and thirty community organizations. Our main worship center, The Centrum, also serves as a community performance hall.

You will find Cypress Creek Christian Church to be a loving church where freedom in Christ is practiced. But, at the same time, you can rest in knowing that we are also a church that holds unswervingly to God's precious Word in order to provide a solid anchor for your family during these changing times.

In summary, what can I expect in worship?

Greeting:  We don't ask our visitors to stand up or to identify themselves, but we like to provide an opportunity for guests as well as members to meet and welcome those who are seated near them.

Music: You may choose to attend our 9:31 contemporary service which is designed to praise God using today's music and video, or our traditional service which praises God using hymns, choir and organ, at 8:30 or 11:00.

Prayer: It is our privilege to bring praise, thanksgiving, confession and requests to God through prayer.

Communion:  On the night that Jesus Christ was betrayed, He ate dinner with his disciples, telling them about His upcoming death and asking them to "do this in remembrance of Me".  As Disciples, we celebrate the Lord's Supper each Sunday.  We observe "open communion" which means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to participate regardless of church affiliation.  Communion is a weekly reminder of God’s unconditional love poured out for us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Offering: We collect an offering to support the work of our church, worthy causes in our community, and missions work in our country and around the world.

Sermon:  The sermon has two primary purposes:  to celebrate God’s love revealed through the Christ; and to bring the Bible to a crossing point with the issues of today.
