ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHING
January 21, 2022
Tonight, at Cypress Creek Christian Church, the new 2022 Elders will meet. This is the beginning of a retreat for the Leadership of the Church. Tomorrow, the Elders will be joined by the new Board. Part of it is simply to get better acquainted. We will spend time doing some of the practical work, training and preparing for certain tasks. Time will be spent dreaming, asking questions and beginning to discern what 2022 and beyond will look like for CCCC. In Proverbs 11, we read how a people will fall without guidance. It is so true! But those called to guide must first root themselves in the One who seeks to set a purpose and direction for the people. Leadership must be rooted in a prayerful relationship with God. It doesn’t mean leaders will always agree, but where faithful hearts come together, the Spirit is often recognized and followed. Do me a favor and pray for the church’s new leadership this weekend… and beyond. These are faithful volunteers who are committed to important ministries in the life of our congregation. Without them, it would be very challenging for us to do what we believe God is calling us to do.
For all those who continue to undergird the work of your church, O Lord, we give thanks. For those who will be meeting this weekend, giving of their time and energy, we pray for your Spirit to guide, encourage and uplift. May their work bring great passion and purpose to all that is done in this place and beyond. Amen.
