Prayer for the Week: Life is not always rainbows and butterflies. The life we live is a mix of emotions, for no one is exempt from sorrow, disappointment, or pain. Hear us, O God, who is a participant in the full spectrum of life. Hear our words of gratitude and thanksgiving, but also our words of anguish and even the muttering of our spirits when there are no words to speak. You know us, and you know the content of our hearts. You understand the complexity of our lives, and you do not step away when things become overly complicated. And they do, at times, become overly complicated. Thank you for hearing us and understanding our life situation, for the Jesus story reveals how you did not remain disconnected from creation. You did not see some distant heaven as a place from which you observed our struggles. You are the very power and essence of love, and you have and continue to find ways of moving among us in redemptive and healing ways. Jesus reminds us that you are in solidarity with your creation, for it is the power and essence of your love that provide comfort, encouragement, and purpose to all existence. Continue to assure us that we are heard, and allow your Spirit to fall fresh upon this community of faith so that we may model your genuine concern for all creation. These words of prayer are offered to you, Lord, the One who hears us in love. Amen.
