Prayer for the Week:
For the capacity to forgive
we seek your Holy Resilience
Forgiveness—
not to forget
not to give the impression
that the wrong was right
not to do what we were told to do
we seek the capacity to forgive
to share in the work
of healing and redemption,
starting with our own need
to heal and find redemption
When we’ve been hurt—
betrayed – left to suffer – scapegoated
we feel the hopelessness of the tomb
we become consumed by the injury
we perceive no way forward
Yet you have given us forgiveness
shown us the power of forgiveness
demonstrated forgiveness
and though the path forward
might appear impossible
you promise
to walk along the way
to love us along the way
to help make a way
Thank you!
Even when we are not ready
to offer forgiveness
Even when the hurt
is just too much
Even when the anger
is too real
Thank you
for meeting us where we are
