Prayer for the Week: May the little gifts we receive this day give us a reason for gratitude. For the breath that gives us life and the earth that provides us food; for music that brings joy and the people whose love is forever present. Holy and Generous God, too often we are gripped by an unhealthy attitude of expectation – wanting more, bigger, better. Without realizing it, we overlook the plethora of gifts dispensed into our lives. We unknowingly look through a distorted lens that falsifies what we see and alters our capacity to appreciate what is worthy of our appreciation. Realign our vision, O God, so we are able to better focus on all we have instead of what we lack. It is only then that our gratitude can grow, giving way to a more centered and generous life. Amen.
