ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHING
December 5, 2021
I want peace, a peace that is experienced by all, not simply those who have the position or power to create a restricted and private space of so-called peacefulness. I want peace, a peace that permeates every human soul, flowing from us and between us. I want peace, a peace where children do not fear going to school or walking home or being in their home. I want peace, a peace that allows every part of creation to know a spirit of quiet contentment. I want peace, a peace brought into hospital rooms and other circumstances of deep despair. I want peace, a peace that allows all human beings to claim their place as beloved children of God. I want peace, and I know I am asking a lot. I want peace, and so I guess it needs to begin with me.
May your peace, O Holy One, be present in me, revealed through me and shared freely from me to those around me. Amen.
