Prayer for the Week
Where fear of war is real and all consuming
Where anguish and anxiety grip people’s hearts
Where death literally stands on the border
our powerlessness brings us to you,
O God who provided an unconventional way
in the Prince of Peace.
Today, we grieve as
another cycle of violence emerges
another catastrophe is manufactured
another circumstance of inhumanity takes shape
Bring our prayers
alongside the prayers of our neighbors
both close to home and far away
Bring our hope to fruition
a threshold of creativity
a doorway into holy possibilities
rarely perceived by the narrow thinker
by those hungry for another useless war
Where fear of war is real and all consuming
provide us another way
your way, Holy One
