ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

What does it mean to love as Jesus loved? If your answer to that question has stayed the same for more than a few months, I would invite you to revisit it. I’d say the same thing to a married couple. In fact, how I’d define love for my wife today is very different than how I would have defined love twenty years ago. Not that it was wrong before, but I’ve changed and she’s changed and the world has changed. I would have considered her love a gift twenty years ago, but that gift has taken on new value and awe-inspiring beauty over the years. Today, I cannot even begin to fathom the depth and breadth of God’s love, but I strive and grow and learn. As I do so, I am making my way toward a destination I know I will never reach. But as I will say in the sermon this morning, “…let’s not stop trying.”

I am beyond thankful for the love I have received, O Amazing God, and I only hope to provide a glimpse to others who I meet along this journey of life. Amen.
