ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

What a day! What a day!! I love our Blessing of the Animals and Stuffed Animals. It is a really good community event. There were so many families who were simply going to the Bush Library or coming back from Collins Park, and they stopped to see what was occurring. They quickly discovered some wonderful hospitality from our folks, and then learning how even was free, the children quickly got involved by adopting a stuffed animal, hanging out with a kangaroo, grabbing a free snack, making a craft, and enjoying some cotton candy. Yes, it cost Cypress Creek Christian Church some money, but I believe it is money well spent. Hospitality doesn’t always cost money, but it’s nice when the welcome includes some food and some fun. In Romans 12, after Paul offers a long list of important things any follower of Jesus should do, including loving one another, serving one another, being patient, and contributing to the needs of others, we find the addition command, “…extend hospitality to strangers.” Yesterday, there were many strangers who wandered into our event, but they didn’t leave strangers.
Continue to expand the generosity of my spirit, O Lord who lavishes us with love and mercy, for I desire to share in your great command to be hospitable. Amen.
