Ecclesiological Etchings

ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
September 12, 2026
Yesterday was my wife’s birthday. We had a wonderful trip to California planned to celebrate this milestone, but my health issues forced us to cancel. I know spouses make sacrifices for one another, as that is what love does. However, it does not make certain decisions any easier. It still sort of suck! We had been planning and saving for the trip for more than a year, and our hope is to make it happen at some point in the future. This Etching is simply to give thanks for my spouse and partner who is willing to change on a dime, make all sorts of calls to get refunds associated with our trip, help transfer some tickets we couldn’t get refunded to some friends who could use them, and then refocus her energy on me. I know what a pain I can be, so I thank her for hanging out with me for nearly 32 years and choosing to walk alongside me even when life throws us a bit of a curveball.

Whether it is family by birth or family by choice or friends who might as well be family, gratitude spills from our hearts to our lips, shouting our thankfulness to you, Loving God, and anyone else who will listen. Amen.
