Scripture: 1st Peter 1:14-15
Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance. Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct.
Thought for the Day: A regular practice can become a habit. A habit, if given the opportunity, can become an enduring characteristic. Yet too often people are not willing to put forth the initial effort to begin what could become a regular practice. I’m guilty of it. Whether it is better eating or more intentional prayer, I can think about it. I can even schedule a starting day. But the day comes and plans change and I must put off my starting day. Before long, the initial idea is lost amidst a busy schedule. This scripture calls us to make Christ-like living an enduring characteristic within us. That is a little intimidating, yet it all begins with an initial practice…a first step.
Prayer: Holy God, I desire for my life to more fully reflect you. Encourage me in this work, and when excuses begin to form in my mind, provide me an infusion of your spirit that revitalizes and emboldens my purpose. Amen.
