Scripture: Exodus 40:38
The LORD’s cloud stayed over the dwelling during the day, with lightning in it at night, clearly visible to the whole household of Israel at every stage of their journey.
Thought for the Day: A Swiss philosopher by the name of Henri Fredric Amiel wrote, “Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are traveling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.” The 40 days of Lent offer the opportunity for some good practice of what Amiel was suggesting. Lent is a microcosm of life, and we can either watch the days slip away or we can act with deliberate urgency. 40 days is relatively short, but it is also enough time to make a wish into a habit, a desired change into a lived reality. We are already six days into this Lenten season, but don’t allow the fact that as much as 15% of the journey to Easter is over to become the excuse that keeps you from taking full advantage of the 85% that remains.
Prayer: Provide me one clear thing to accomplish this day, O Spirit of Grace – and may it help me in my journey of discovery and growth. Amen.
