Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1st Peter 3:18b
Christ was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit…

Thought for the Day: Yesterday was an interesting day at Cypress Creek Christian Church. Quite often I find that my sermon comes off (or maybe I should say ‘comes out’) very differently depending on the service. Some might think that the sermon would get progressively better, but that’s not always the case. I have found sermons that progressively got worse as I moved from 8:15 to 9:30 to 11:00. With that said, I am very appreciative that worship is not just about preaching. It is ultimately dependent upon the Living Christ who is the source of our worship, and for those open to the living Christ, he does not disappoint. Yesterday was one of those Sundays, and though I won’t tell you which service I thought was a bit of a flop, I pray that something happened in the worship you attended… something that gave you a clear vision of the Living Christ who was there no matter what happened in the sermon.

Prayer: Make me alive with your Spirit, O Lord, as Christ was made alive. Amen.

  1. Your sermon at the 9:30am service was perfect. I wish the entire world could hear the message.
