Scripture: Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
When you make a promise to God, fulfill it without delay because God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill what you promise. Better not to make a promise than to make a promise without fulfilling it.
Thought for the Day: Les Brown is a motivational speaker who said, “Honor your commitments with integrity.” You would think we could simply say, “Honor your commitments,” but sadly people look for ways of honoring without honoring. To be honest and forthcoming, I have probably done that on a few occasions in life. Though in reading the words from Ecclesiastes, I find myself rethinking the question: What does it mean to honor your commitments to God with integrity? Ponder that today.
Prayer: Allow for my faith to express itself with integrity, O Spirit of Encouragement. I need your assistance when promises are much easier to offer than they are to fulfill. Amen.
