Every Sunday, we gather around a table,
a table representing your generosity.
People of –
different generations,
different perspectives,
different ethnicities,
different family circumstance,
find community and wholeness
at that table.
We are grateful for its welcome –
its shelter of mercy,
its sustaining hope,
its sustenance of life.
We pray for neighbors,
far and near.
We pray for mothers and fathers,
daughters and sons,
the orphans and the widows,
the forsaken and the marginalized
the foreigner and the misfit…
for all people
to not only experience the welcome
but to see their unique beauty
and their designated seat
at the family table.
For every good gift of loving-kindness,
we are grateful to you,
O Creator of the Table,
who was fully present in Jesus –
and who made the welcome real
in his invitation to every human being.
We shall gather with gratitude this Sunday.
We shall eat of the bread
and share in the cup
believing there is-
more room
more love
more mercy
more of all good gifts
available at the table.
Every Sunday, we gather around a table,
a table representing your generosity,
O Gracious God.
Thank you. Amen.
