Though I wish to be generous, I know generosity cannot exist without a deep and abiding trust in you, O King of Glory. Without trust, I will always reach for greed and selfishness. We as human beings were created to survive, and it is our DNA that pushes us to trust no one. In this self-serving temperament our insecurities become the authority in our decision-making. It is not what we wish as followers of Jesus, and it is clearly not what Jesus would want from us. For that reason, we ask for your empowering Spirit to become the authority in our lives. By faith, we seek to trust you and your vision for life and living. Where generosity is expressed with the self-denial and compassion seen in the life and death of Jesus, there is hope for humanity and for your kingdom coming to earth. I wish to be generous, O King of Glory, and I know it will exist only with a deep and abiding trust in you. Amen.
