From Rev. Norma Lowrey
Scripture: John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Thought: During our discussions in the Jesus Apprentice series, we were asked to look at several definitions of the “Good News”. Peace is the Good News, the “gift” to share with others. As Jesus taught us in today’s scripture, we can only have peace of mind and heart through our faith in Him. With this peace, we are assured that in any circumstance, we have no need to fear the present or the future. There are so many forces at war within us – sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and the list goes on. The peace of God moves in our hearts and lives to hold back these forces and offers us comfort in place of conflict. Jesus said this peace is His gift to us if we are willing to accept it. How could we say “no” to such an incredible gift and, then, not share that gift with others?
Prayer: Dear God, we are so thankful for the peace that lives within our hearts and souls because of our faith in your Son. May we continue to spread that Good News with everyone we meet. Amen.
