ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHING
February 3, 2022
The world will throw a lot at us. We will make many mistakes, and some of them will bring about some trouble. Suffering will happen no matter how careful we might be. A lot of bad stuff will occur in life, but it is good to know that God will protect and guard us. Of course, that doesn’t mean we are going to be protected from all the stuff the world will throw at us. It doesn’t mean we will be guarded from the repercussions of our mistakes. It doesn’t mean suffering won’t befall us. It does mean God will protect and guard the essence of who we are so that no difficulty we face will have the ultimate victory. In Psalm 12, the author writes, “You, O Lord, will protect us; you will guard us from this generation forever.” Beautiful words, but I’m pretty sure the Psalmist wrote/sang those words while also knowing suffering, disease, rejection and grief.
Creator God, in this life many things will transpire, yet I know you stand with me in this life and in the life to come. Amen.
