Prayer for the Week:
When my soul is tired and I feel drained of all life’s energy, I consciously pause and look to you, Holy One. Your love is a source of respite, a holy hiatus from the voices seeking to drag me down. The 24-hour news cycle can suck me in and then spit me out, leaving me frustrated and confused, weary and exhausted. There are also voices embedded within me, voices from my past that seek to define me in ways that leave me defeated. It is not your voice, O Gracious God. It is not the voice worthy of my attention, yet it speaks up whenever I am left alone in my insecurities. Today, call me to step away from the incessant noise of the TV and the ever-so persistent and negative voice stuck somewhere in the back of my mind. Call me into the welcoming arms of grace; into the receptive presence of your Spirit; into the restful embrace of your love. Even for a moment, it will be precious beyond explanation – a curative and regenerative moment for my health and wellbeing. Amen.
