Prayer for the Week: Speak to our ears that we might hear; speak to our hearts that we might know; speak to our feet that we might walk in the direction you’d have us go. God of Life – the faithful life – we awaken on this cold Monday morning with an opportunity to reconnect to your good message put on display by the teacher they called Jesus. Make this reconnection an opportunity to recommit to a life lived in the ways of Jesus. So often we claim to follow him, but it is at best a second-rate imitation done when it is agreeable and convenient. You, Holy God, are looking for disciples who continue to walk in the ways of Jesus even when it is disruptive and challenging to life as we’d like it. The world needs more love, mercy, kindness, generosity and gentleness, and not simply when it is agreeable and convenient. Help us to make the faith we claim into a faith that is lived consistently and fiercely. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen.
