Prayer for the Week:
Calling and Commitment;
Choosing to follow;
Discipleship.
Good and Gracious God,
Call me again –
Invite me to be committed –
Prepare me to follow –
For I desire to be a disciple,
a disciple of Jesus.
I cannot expect this
to happen overnight
or without discipline
or by osmosis.
Walk alongside me
correct me where I’m off the path
and gently guide my steps.
I am eager
to be where you need me to be,
to do what you need me to do,
to draw attention, not to self,
but to the Living Christ.
To be in that place you need me to be
will require me
to be deliberate and discerning.
This is where I begin this day,
believing I can better be
who you need me to be,
if only I am willing
to do the work you need me to do.
This is my prayerful request
in the name of Jesus,
the one who invited me
to be a disciple.
Amen.
