Today is the day! Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today is the celebration of our 50th Anniversary as a church. I know you might be a little sleepy as the alarm went off at the same time as it does every Sunday, but it doesn’t feel like the same time. You’re feeling like you lost an hour of sleep somewhere, and you did. But stretch, take a shower, get some caffeine and then come and celebrate as we talk about losing ourselves so we can find ourselves – find and recommit ourselves to the mission being cast before us. It is an exciting day, a day the Lord has made. With this day, we are going to channel some of the original enthusiasm that gave birth to Cypress Creek Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) fifty years ago. It will be a good day… because it is the day the Lord has made.
Come, Holy Spirit – infuse and animate our tired bodies. Come, Holy Spirit – infuse and animate your body, the Body of Christ known as Cypress Creek Christian Church. Come, Holy Spirit, as we both celebrate this anniversary of our birth and take the first steps into the next fifty years. Come, Holy Spirit! Amen.
