Scripture: James 3:13
Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom.
Thought for the Day: For a week now, I have been intrigued by the phrase: gentleness born of wisdom. During this Season of Lent, I have taken a sentence or phrase from scripture and allowed it to roll around in my head for a week or so. I’ve asked questions like: Is there gentleness born of foolishness? Maybe, but wisdom in the Book of James is described as coming down from above/heaven as a gift given generously. To have a gentleness born of wisdom is to have a gentleness born of God, a gentleness that seeks to make you and I better people. In your own life, what does gentleness look like physically? Emotionally? Spiritually? Is there one specific area where you need a rebirth of that gentleness? How might God be helping you make it come alive?
Prayer: Help me, Lord, as I want my life to show others the gentleness born of you. It is so needed in every corner of our society, and I pray that I might be a means by which it is brought into more and more places. Amen.
