Prayer for the Week
:
Our good friend Terry Ewing (Vice President for Advancement at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma) puts out a weekly thought/prayer entitled: Overflowing. This past week, he offered a prayer that spoke to my heart and he granted me permission to repost it in my Etchings.

Many voices.
Many voices crowd the path of my life.
Voices of those most close, dear whispers to raise my head, or lift my spirit, or coax a smile.
Voices forged by anger and voices draping me in disappointment.
Voices delivering the newest thought and highest learning, teaching with a generous tone and expectant thrill, crafting my sight and sharpened vision.
Voices that sound like me and voices splendid in their difference.
Voices that ring with praise, voices in the dark that bite and tear.
Voices speaking without end, echoed ‘round my head, pressing right up front to form the dangling excuse or slippery reason and permission to do the worst.
Voices rising from a deep and quiet calm, messengers of a peace that requires no sound, only willing release.
Many voices. Listen, they want to be heard.
Many voices, and still I must find my own.

Thanks, Terry!
