Prayer for the Week:
Some conversations are happening –
Some with you,
O God who hears the cries of the people
Some are beginning to occur
where they are long overdue
Some are occurring as people
read a book far outside their own experience
Some are occurring
in a faithful and open coffee chat online
Some are occurring in households
were important topics were too easily evaded
Some are occurring in the streets
where the very people who shouldn’t need
to explain themselves
are demonstrating a generosity of spirit
in doing so once again.
Some conversations are happening –
they are not always neat or organized
they are messy and often painful
they are confessional and full of questions
But they are happening.
May they continue to happen –
By and through your grace, O Lord
For your Kingdom shall come,
But it shall not manifest itself
as you would like
until we have these hard
overdue conversations.
Amen.
