Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
Thought for the Day: By a quick show of hands: How many people like change? I remember telling someone, “I like change, assuming it is the change I want.” Yet thinking about those words today, I’m not too sure whether I really affirm them. There are many things I recognize as needing change. Does that mean I do the necessary work to change? We recognize a bad habit in our lives, and we even tell ourselves how a change would be good. But when it comes to doing what is necessary, we either complain at every step or we don’t really follow through to the end. In these words from Paul, he appears to make the suggestion that change has already occurred. And if we are in Christ, then we are a part of the new thing. Change has already happened. The question before us is whether or not we have really joined it. Do our priorities reflect it? Do those who meet us recognize it?
Prayer: Provide me, O Visionary God, the necessary courage and tenacity to make change where change would be good. And where you have already moved forward, may I act with intentionality so my life reflects your visionary worldview. Amen.
