I saw a post on Facebook recently that really had an impact on me. The post said “Some people need to be told they are worthy, and that they are loved, not because no one told them before, but because someone told them they weren’t.”

As a Christian, as a mother, as a human being, I just cannot imagine telling someone they were not worthy – EVER. That post has made me reach out more to others, sometimes beyond my comfort zone in order to tell someone how much I appreciate them, or if I see a person doing something good, I want to let them know it has been noticed.

Don’t we learn the golden rule at a young age, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?” Didn’t Jesus tell us to love our neighbor as you love ourself? (Mark 12:30-31) Don’t we look at other individuals as human beings that deserve to be loved? Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and love. We don’t know what another persons story is or what they have faced in their lives. We have not walked in their shoes, we don’t know if they have eaten that day, been beaten down or what has gone on.

We should all want to follow Jesus and love on everyone we encounter. We are all born children of God. One person is not above the next person and no better or worse either.

O God, help us to remain humble in this walk of life we are on. Remind us often of the worthiness of each of your children. Let us be the one that reminds others they are truly loved and worthy of that love. Amen.
