Prayer of the Week:
Our spirits can become dry and calcified;
Our spirits can ossify
under the pressure and pain;
Our spirits can become lifeless,
and when there is no life left,
our spirits can die.
O Giver of Life, and life infusing love,
there is so much that seeks to crush us,
so many things that burden us,
numerous voices that want to devalue us.
There are days when we feel
as if we are being hit from every side,
and undercut from underneath.
We ask you to be our strength
when we have lost all resolve.
Teach us resilience;
Instruct us on how to be available;
Demonstrate for us,
through the living Christ,
how to make room for you
to enter in and reside.
Gracious God, our lives find true life
as we tap into your unconditional love.
Provide for us
as many God-encounters as possible,
but also make our spirits
a bit more porous
that your gifts might not simply run off
our dry and injured spirits.
Allow for life, and your life infusing love,
to bring what is needed
so that we can live more fully;
more joyfully;
more Jesus-like.
Amen.
