The Cypress Creek Christian Church’s Community Center is an outreach ministry, serving as the heartbeat of our community and central gathering place for our community through its programming. Psalm 1:3 provides a powerful picture for a community center that has served residents for more than 50 years. The verse compares a person rooted in God to “a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither.”
That imagery connects naturally to the center’s long-standing role in the community:
Planted — rooted in the community: the center has remained a consistent presence, deeply connected to the people and needs of its community.
Watered — nurturing lives: Its social, spiritual, educational, cultural, and municipal programs provide opportunities for all residents to be supported, encouraged, educated, and connected.
Fruitful — enriching quality of life: The center’s programs produce “fruit” through stronger families, cultural enrichment, spiritual growth, community relationships, and civic engagement. Youth education in music, theater, dance, and other performing arts helps young people cultivate their abilities and gives them opportunities to share those gifts with others.
In season — serving changing needs: In 1976, when the doors first opened, the world looked a little different. But the vision of our founders was timeless: to serve as the heart and central gathering place for the northwest Houston residents. The Cypress Creek Christian Church is more than brick and mortar, used only on Sundays and Wednesdays. The community center is a non-profit ministry infusing five decades of energy, connection, and life into our community. Just as a tree produces fruit in its season, the center continues to adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of each generation.
Through the years, thousands of people have walked through our building. We’ve seen young music students perform in their first recital, who are now bringing their own grandchildren to the same venue. Whether it was a wedding reception, a town hall meeting, a class or a concert, this center has been a place where many happy memories have been made.
A lasting witness — “whose leaf does not wither”: More than five decades of service reflects continuity, resilience, and a commitment to remaining a source of life and connection within the community.
