Prayer for the Week: O Visionary of Peace, O Spirit Who Inspires Peace, you have wanted nothing more than for your creation to live in peace. Your dream seems so far away, yet how much of our perception is skewed by Powers and Principalities seeking to distract us from those who are living as exemplary models of peacefulness. There is anger, and you see it. There is hatefulness, and you see it. There is fear that gives way to violence, and you see it. Yet amidst everything that is destructive, your Spirit declares once again, “Blessed are the peacemakers!” And there are more than some might think. Let us seek out these paragons of your Kingdom Vision, allowing for their stories to be what consumes the 24-hour news cycle. And if the news won’t tell their stories, animate our imaginations and empower our voices so that we might give witness to their lives. Jesus embodied the self-giving life of peace, and a revolution of love caught fire. This world in which we live is often looking for someone whose life points beyond self. May those of us who claim our place in the Body of Christ do everything we can to give clarity to that life. Amen.
