Ecclesiological Etchings

ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHING
November 5, 2021

Between the completion of one thing and the beginning of something else is a space rich with the Holy. Whether we will contribute to or hinder God’s dream for the future is often determined by what occurs in that in-between space. We find ourselves in those spaces for many reasons. For some, those in-between spaces feel hollow and futile. Others push through because of the discomfort. Yet as the poet suggested in Psalm 137, there is no place we can go where God is not present. God was fully present in whatever has come to an end and God will be fully present in whatever has yet to be realized, but God might be even more actively working in that pause. It is in that space where, if we are willing to make ourselves available, God can do some of the best work redefining, redirecting and reequipping us for what is to come.

I am listening, Lord. I am really trying to listen as I want to be a part of your future. Amen.
