Ecclesiological Etchings

ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
November 20, 2022

Worship is many things, but among them is the opportunity for the community to collectively give thanks. Our expressions of gratitude are not intended to meet some need or expectation of God, but to meet a yearning within us. As people of faith, we have come to realize how our lives are intrinsically linked to the One who is the Source of our Being. Gratitude is the way that realization finds expression. It is one thing to know of that link, and something very different to act on that realization. Today is Thanksgiving Sunday. Let us see our realization find expression in songs of gratitude and acts of appreciation offered in the name of the One who is the Source of our Being. With that in mind, read this verse from Psalm 97, “Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!”

May my internal feelings of gratitude toward you, O Lord, find outward expression in both worship and service. Amen.
