Devotional by Rev. Bruce Frogge
Scripture: Romans 12:5-8
In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we belong to each other. We have different gifts that are consistent with God’s grace that has been given to us. If your gift is prophecy, you should prophesy in proportion to your faith. If your gift is service, devote yourself to serving. If your gift is teaching, devote yourself to teaching. If your gift is encouragement, devote yourself to encouraging. The one giving should do it with no strings attached. The leader should lead with passion. The one showing mercy should be cheerful.
Thought for the Day: Gary Gilmore is the head coach of the Coastal Carolina baseball team. They are a smaller college, and not very well known…that is – until they won the national championship a couple of months back. They shocked the other teams and all the baseball experts by truly living the Cinderella dream. In an interview immediately after their championship victory, Gilmore said, “We’re not the most talented team in America, we’re just the National Champs.” Those are wonderful words, and a good reminder that a group of people can often accomplish more than just individual gifts separated from one another. This is important for the church to remember when it comes to fulfilling the calling put before us.
Prayer: O God, bring all the many parts of this living Body together. Allow for my unique gifts to work in harmony with the unique gifts of others for the purpose of sharing your Gospel of love. Amen.
