Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1 Samuel 10:9
And just as Saul turned to leave Samuel’s side, God gave him a different heart, and all these signs happened that very same day.

Thought for the Day: Don’t you think that God is always trying to provide us a new heart? Samuel has just anointed Saul with oil as the new king and then he speaks of many signs Saul will see and experience. As Saul begins to follow the direction of Samuel, it is then that “God gave him a different heart…” It’s not that God is holding back, but there is something to taking the first step in the direction of God’s leading that makes us more available for the new thing God wishes to put within us. We can say we want change, a new attitude, a different perspective, but making that desire into a reality requires us to take the first step. Are you ready to take that first step?

Prayer: Guide me, O Gracious God, in the ways of faithfulness. I desire for your attitude of love to reside within me, yet the change I seek will only come as I follow in your ways. Encourage my steps, especially the first one that is often the most difficult. Amen.

SEE YOU IN WORSHIP
