Scripture: Genesis 12:1-4a
The LORD said to Abram, “Leave your land, your family, and your father’s household for the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation and will bless you. I will make your name respected, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, those who curse you I will curse; all the families of the earth will be blessed because of you.” Abram left just as the LORD told him
Thought for the Day: The comedian Chris Rock said, “Comedians tend to find a comfort zone and stay there and do lamer versions of themselves for the rest of their career.” That’s a pretty harsh critique, but let’s be honest, it is not unique to comedians. I would even suggest that churches find their comfort zones, stay there, and over time, do a lamer version of the Gospel until the last person dies. This Sunday, you will be invited to step outside of the comfort zone, stretch yourself, and help Cypress Creek Christian Church move into its next phase of existence. It will be a part of our discussion on When 3=4. God calls people off the path leading to a lamer and lamer version of faithfulness, yet for so many, the comfort is too great and the path too well known. It is those moments where I turn to Abraham and Sarah (Abram and Sarai) who heard God’s call and seemed genuinely excited about forging a new path of faithfulness with God.
Prayer: With a bit a caution in our voices, O Lord, we respond to your invitation and say, “Yes, here we are.” Please excuse our occasional anxiousness and uncertainty, for though we often speak of a throw caution to the wind kind of life, we may feel more comfortable saying it than doing it. Be our guide and companion, and we will take those first few steps. Amen.

I Hope To See You On Sunday
