Scripture: Isaiah 41:10
[The Lord said,] “Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.”
Thought for the Day: Richard Rohr is a Franciscan Friar who I have referenced a number of times. In a recent blog, he quoted a section of his book, Falling Upward. He writes:
If we are absolutely grounded in the absolute love of God that protects us from nothing even as it sustains us in all things, then we can face all things with courage and tenderness and touch the hurting places in others and in ourselves with love.
I needed those words. They are challenging, helpful and beautiful. We do not fear because we are exempt from frightening things, but because we are never alone. And the One who promises to be with us is the fullness of love. If this is the case, then why should anything concern us?
Prayer: Bring me again into an awareness of your absolute and unconditional love, O Lord who promises to strengthen and uphold us. Amen.
