Scripture: Psalm 32:11 (the Message)
Celebrate God. Sing together – everyone! All you honest hearts, raise the roof!
Thought for the Day: Today is Epiphany, but I’d like to suggest that on Epiphany Sunday (yesterday) we truly celebrated God and did a little roof raising ourselves. Despite cold temperatures, the Cypress Creek Christian Church folks showed up and participated in another one of my nutty ideas, and I think people really enjoyed it. And I’m talking about both the walkers and those who drove by our little parade with cell cameras and smiles. And then the music… it was hard to preach with that stupid grin on my face, but fun bluegrass music gets my feet tapping and my head a bobbing. If I were to make an educated guess, I think most people got the point of it all: Epiphany shouldn’t feel like a letdown after Christmas, but a continuation of the joyful celebration of God’s loving kindness entering the world. Thanks for following me into the craziness of my liturgical dreams.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for the wise men who followed a crazy idea themselves… but one that produced a lot of joy for them and the world. Amen.
