Scripture: Matthew 2:12
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.
Thought for the Day: I preached a sermon a number of years ago that I entitled, You’re not a coward if… I offered a number of ways one could finish the sentence, but concluded by saying, “You’re not a coward if God says you’re not.” It might appear that the wise men were running away from Herod, and they probably were a bit scared. But God gave them permission to seek the non-confrontational path. There are times when we are called to boldly face the challenges before us, but there are other situations were it makes sense to return home by another road so we are alive to be bold when it will be more helpful to God.
Prayer: Assist me, O Faithful God, to discern when to be bold and when to find the other road home. Amen.
