Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thought for the Day: Is it just wishful thinking?  Paul says he is convinced, yet he has no physical proof.  His convictions cannot be validated using scientific methods, yet he remains unswayed by the naysayers.  Since Paul has no real evidence to support his conviction, why is it that such a belief has resonated in the lives of people, not only in the days of Paul, but for 2000 years?  Maybe the evidence is found in the lives of those who believe in the ability of God’s love to bridge any divide.  Actually, that’s what leaves me convinced that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God.

Prayer: O Holy One, make my life visual evidence of your unceasing love.  Amen.

  1. I love this passage, Paul is so confident, so sure. NOTHING! can separate us from God’s love.
