Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Ezekiel 40:2
He brought me, in visions of God, to the land of Israel, and set me down upon a very high mountain, on which was a structure like a city to the south.

Thought for the Day: How I wish I would be taken to the mountain top where I would see through the divine eyes.  Instead, I feel like my perspective is more like a short step stool that gives me an adequate vantage point as long as there is no one tall in front of me.  I guess that’s the reason we read scripture and listen to the stories of the saints, for many of them were people who stood on the mountain and were allowed to see as God sees.  From Moses to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from Dorothy Day to St. Aquilina, we find people who glimpsed God’s vision.  Their words and actions can teach those of us who feel a bit envious as we attempt to climb to the top of our step stools.

Prayer: Raise me up, O God, through the inspiring stories of the faithful.  Amen.

I hope to see you in worship this morning!
