Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Ephesians 4:30-32
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.  Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.

Thought for the Day: The respected spiritual voice of Robert Muller, often referred to as the philosopher of the United Nations, offered the idea that to “forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love.  In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.”  Coming to the decision to seek or extend forgiveness can be nasty, teeming with discontentment and frustration.  At the same time, unresolved guilt or long-held anger is an experience much more damaging and painful.  Trust that the God who has offered you the unmerited gift of forgiveness has also promised to stay with you through whatever spiritual or emotional grappling is necessary.

Prayer: Deep breath…unclear journey ahead…stumble into the uncertainty.  God, come with me.  If this is going to be successful, it will be because of you.  Amen.
