Scripture: Exodus 20:8
Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.
Thought for the Day: I recently dug out a quote from Alice Walker that I had found a while back and had tucked away. She wrote, “Anybody can observe the Sabbath, but making it holy surely takes the rest of the week.” Keeping the Sabbath holy is a task put upon us, and simply going to church isn’t going to accomplish it. The work of Sabbath consecration is a strenuous assignment, and requires a people who are willing to surround a 24-hour period with 144 hours of genuine compassion and just-living. Are you ready to do the good work necessary to see a truly holy Sabbath?
Prayer: Create in me, O Lord, the stamina to live an every day of the week life that honors what we proclaim on Sunday morning. Amen.
