Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:3 (the Message)
Listen obediently, Israel. Do what you’re told so that you’ll have a good life, a life of abundance and bounty, just as God promised, in a land abounding in milk and honey.
Thought for the Day: Today is Ground Hog Day, and like many of you, my mind goes to a movie named after the holiday, a movie staring Bill Murray. For those who do not know the story, Phil Connors (Murray) relives the same day over and over and over again. At times it appears hopeless, but as the reruns continue, Connors sees an opportunity to make his life better…to create a life worth living.
As far as I know, none of us get that same redo. Yet with each new day, we are given the chance to make today an amazing day. I don’t usually quote Hulk Hogan, but he once said, “I woke up and realized life is great and people are awesome and life is worth living.” I hope you have opened your eyes to this new day, and seen all the wonderful opportunities you have to live your life in such a way that God believes it is a life worth living.
Prayer: Grant us, Gracious God, the tenacity to strive toward making today and every day a good day where life is lived to its fullest. Amen.
