Scripture: Proverb 20:25
It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,” and begin to reflect only after making a vow.
Thought for the Day: On more than one occasion, I have realized the importance of timing only after timing no longer mattered. The Proverbs provide for us portable truth that we can tuck away for more than emergency use. These nuggets of insight, with regular reflection, can become integrated into our life’s being. Discipline, the regular practice of spiritual exercises, allows us to make something more than a habit. It will become second nature. Timing is everything, and today is a good time to begin practicing some of the spiritual insights offered to us in scripture. And though practice may not make perfect, it will make for a healthier and more centered individual.
Prayer: Bring me to a moment of realization, O Loving Lord, a time when I realize that timing matters. Today just might be that time, and I will most certainly need your love, O Lord, as I make good use of this time. Amen.
