A PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
For you, O God, so loved us… Not only those of us who go to the right church or do the socially acceptable things or follow the well worn path, but you love us all. In a world so diverse, yet so paranoid and insecure, it is difficult to see your amazing and fully-affirming love. In a world so diverse, why is it that we cannot joyfully appreciate your divine image richly spread among our diversity? Why is it that we find security in likemindedness instead of finding reason to celebrate in the beautiful array of human uniqueness? In this moment, let each of us bask in the warmth and welcome of your unconditional love. Let the ‘un’ that disrupts the conditions we like to impose upon love become the place where our hearts truly sing your praises, O Master of this Amazing World. Inspire us in every moment to appreciate all the unique and beautiful faces. Teach us to look deep into the soul of each life so as to find and treasure what it is that makes you sing, O Gracious God. May what we think and what we do reflect your opinion of this world, a world that you have loved and continue to love. May all those who question the ability of your love to accept them find acceptance in us. May their yearning find peace in the good news we proclaim and live. This is our hopeful and prayerful request offered in the name of the one who revealed the true nature of your love, Jesus Christ. Amen.
