Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 11:30
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
Thought for the Day: I’ve always loved the old Navajo tradition of weaving a small flaw into their blankets in order that any evil spirits residing in the blanket may have a way of escaping. There are other communities and traditions who practice the same intentional act to remind themselves how only God is perfect. Yesterday’s devotional, at least the original email that went out, carried a number of flaws. Of course, they were not intentional. I am the worst proof reader, especially of my own material. But the mistakes in yesterday’s devotional were a good reminder to be humble in this season of Lent. Unlike the Navajo, I did not need to plan a demonstration of my shortcomings. I was just being me. And I guess I’ll join the Apostle Paul and do a little boasting about my weakness.
Prayer: Keep me humble, O Lord, for it would be easy to get a big ego. Keep me humble, but also remind me of your love that accepts me whether my ego is inflated or deflated. Amen.
