Guest Devotional: Mike Smith, Elder
Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Thought for The Day: If we can truly give our burdens to the Lord, i.e. “Let go and let God”, so to speak, it makes those burdens incredibly lighter. As Jesus said, transferring our complete trust to the Lord provides rest for the soul. Who knows? Perhaps this greater trust in the Lord will give us the resolve and strength to finally welcome the JOY of discipleship within and among the Kingdom of God.
Prayer: Dear God, please give us the faith we need that will allow us to shift our yokes to You. Give us the trust we need that lets us follow with joy the path(s) you prescribe for us. In Your son, Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
