Scripture: Proverbs 22:9
Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.
Thought for the Day: One of the great voices of Christianity, Billy Graham, was speaking against the notion of a self-serving understanding of “blessing” when he said:
We are not cisterns made for hoarding;
we are channels made for sharing.
Wherever your life resembles that of a cistern, seek God’s help in putting a hole in the side of the cistern so that the gifts poured in can begin to pour out.
Prayer: O Lord who chose to share the blessings of heaven with all the earth, I seek your assistance in becoming an living example of your generosity. Amen.
