Scripture: Proverbs 31:8
Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute.
Thought for the Day: It was on this day in 1896 that Popoff (Alexander Stepanovich Popov) made the first transmission of a radio signal. This Russian physicist demonstrated the movement of radio waves between two buildings in St. Petersburg, a revolutionary event in the transmission of the human voice. We as human beings have always been searching for new ways of communicating, but some voices have been pushed out and others have never been heard. For those who have a voice, God has an expectation that they will speak not only for themselves but for those who have no voice. This requires humility, as those with a voice cannot assume they know what the voiceless really need. As our technology goes places that Popoff never imagined 120 years ago, let us not push ahead so quickly that other voices are lost.
Prayer: As you have heard me, O Lord, may I listen for those who feel as if they have never been heard. Amen.
